A Texas teen has set the example of sportsmanship by unselfishly surrendering the basketball to a developmentally disabled member of the opposing team so he could score a point during a game.Mitchell Marcus serves as the team manager for the basketball team at Coronado High School in El Paso, Texas.
Because he struggles with a disability, he offers support to the coach and team but in a recent game the coach decided to let him suit up and get on the court to play against Franklin High School. The crowd cheered in support and even began chanting, ‘Mitchell, Mitchell’ when he began playing.

After multiple attempts, he appeared frustrated.
In an act of exemplary sportsmanship, Franklin player Jonathon Montanez called out to Mitchell.Jonathon passed the ball to Mitchell and in a moment, Mitchell quickly turned toward the basket and was able to land the shot.
The crowd went wild with cheers and even stormed the court.Though it wasn’t the game winning shot, Coronado was already ahead by 15 points, the incredible act by the opposing team did not go unnoticed.
‘I was raised to treat others how you want to be treated,’ Jonathon explained to CBS News about his action.
‘I just though Mitchell deserved his chance, deserved his opportunity.’
Mitchell’s mom was in the stands to witness the amazing moment and said, ‘I think I’ll cry about it for the rest of my life.’
‘He wasn’t going to be able to score, but I was hoping that he was happy that he was just put in the game,’ Coronado Coach Peter Morales said about his decision to put Mitchell in the game.
‘He’s just an amazing person that our basketball team loves being around,’ the coach added.
